Mint Fresh

My photographs from Kumamoto featured in Mint Magazine's Tenth Anniversary Issue alongside a really great article on the Kuma Shochu region by Déborah Pham. It was exciting to see the images used, and amazing that stories of an evolving craft in shochu production are being spread to places like Paris with such thoughtful care. I truly hope I can play a small part in interesting projects like this, again in future.

Check out my full Kuma Shochu series here.

Ahead of this assignment, I was slightly nervous about shooting product and portraits because of the fact we were constantly moving. We were traveling between several distilleries each day so I took minimal gear to be as agile as possible, working in tight spaces, in unbelievable heat and humidity.

As a result, all shots were taken handheld which was a real challenge but actually product and portraits shots all went down quite well. I learned so much and cannot wait (!) to work on more assignments like this again in future.
